Do you know the deadliest animal in the world? Is it a Lion, Crocodile, or a Hippo? Any guesses? No?
Well, you will be surprised to know that it’s the Mosquito! I am not joking. Mosquitoes may look small, but they kill more than a million people every year. Yes, it’s true.
Only female mosquitoes bite humans. Ouch! While biting, they can transmit dangerous pathogens to our body. As a result, they spread various deadly diseases such as…
- Malaria
- Dengue
- Yellow fever
- Chikungunya
- West Nile
- Filariasis
- Zika etc.
Mosquitoes are as old as the Dinosaurs. Do you know that, there are 3,000 species of mosquitoes around the world? Surprisingly, they don’t have teeth. Then how do they bite us? Well, they have proboscis or sharp needle-like tubes to pierce our skin and suck the blood.
Fortunately, they have a shorter lifespan (10 to 56 days). Thank god, that’s the only relief!

Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by Plasmodium parasites. Do you know how they enter our body? Any guesses? Yes, the answer is obviously through mosquito bite.

Malaria exists in 100+ countries worldwide. 40% of the world’s population is susceptible to the disease. It affects more than 3 billions of people every year. About 90% of malaria-related deaths occur in Africa, most cases being children under the age of 5.
Common side effects of malaria are high fever, chills, headache, and other flu-like symptoms. Pregnant women and small kids are extremely vulnerable to malaria.
